The under privileged rural children are organised and provided evening supplementary education, educational materials like books, Notebooks, stationeries etc and are given various training like child rights, life skill, career guidance, children parliament, summer coaching etc. The rural children are taken around the places of educational / historical importance once in a year. They are provided with dresses, school bags etc. Parenting Education was given to their parents/caregivers.
The rural women, slum women, tribal women and migrant women are organised under self-help group, provided capacity development training, skill training, income generation activities training and help them to start diversified income generation programme with the support of credit linkages with Banks / Financial institutions. The poor and vulnerable women are included in the main stream of society and participate effectively in their development process. Financial inclusion is a major achievement of women empowerment activities.
Eco clubs are formed in schools and the children are trained in Tree plantation, tree protection and preservation of Bio-diversity. The climate change and global warming is combated with various awareness and action programmes. Thousands of trees were planted in Tiruvannamalai District schools, colleges and in the wasteland sites. Organic farming has been promoted through the farmers clubs and farmers training. Environmental campaigns are organised every year during world environment day. SINAM campus itself is an eco-friendly tobacco free zone.
People with disabilities are identify in the district level and organised under special self-help groups for their community-based rehabilitation for their vulnerability related to social, cognitive and military. They are link with Government rehabilitation services, credit linkages with banks etc. Community revolving fund was establish and has been successfully resolved. SINAM is a member of Workability Asia and international workability and participated in various seminar / conferences through offline and online. SINAM NGO received the first prize in the international photo competition related to the rehabilitation of people with disabilities.
Through implementing National Rural Health Mission, programme in Thurinjapuram block From 2011-2015 , the maternal and children mortality was reduced. The following are the health indicators taken from Tiruvannamalai district Human development Report 2017 for Thurinjapuram Block. CBR 5.7, Sex Ratio 990, IMR 16/1000, MMR 70/100000, Home delivery 0. Other activities include preventions and control of Anemia among adolescent girls and pregnant women. Medical camps, eye camps, dental camps were organised in rural villages, health education has been given to children, adolescent girls, women in the reproductive age group, and people with disabilities. Nutrition education has been given along with cooking demonstration for diet diversity and promotion of PEN (Protein Energy Nutrition). HIV / AIDS prevention & control programme has been carried out in 7 blocks of Tiruvannamalai District.
